Community Development goes even further by starting projects in the area of agriculture, economy and business to promote the construction of community centers. It also helps entire communities reach the proposals of God for them. Each community has its own history, culture and values which makes it different from any other. The central vision of the school is to teach people to help a community to change the way it sees the world; to see the world through the eyes of God. At our base, we have developed the following projects in this area. The Love Project In Recife, The LOVE Project works with the families, women and pregnant teens, girls. The mission of this project is to take the love of God to these groups of people as well as help them think about their potential and personal value; that they are capable to be productive and in the possibility that they can have a family structure; being self supporting and free from addictions. We have reached some families through giving out soup, home visits, counseling, and discipleship. We are looking to partner with churches to see this project grow; giving professional courses; enable groups of women to become self supporting; to give seminars for teenage girls about sexuality, jewelry making classes, etc. Christian Heritage School Educating children has been a strategy we use to teach the Word of God and to transform generations in the four corners of the world. It has been quite effective because we are dealing with individuals that are still being formed; while their minds and hearts are still like fertile soil. As the principles from the Word of God are implanted in the hearts of a child, they will stay with them till the end of their lives and generations will be transformed. At YWAM Recife we have the Christian Heritage School, where we receive little ones between the ages of 2 - 6 from our community and offer education, personal care, food, tutoring, recreation, etc. As well as reaching out to the family of the children through events and regular meetings. The school is functioning in the ground floor of a three story building which is still under construction. When completed it will have the capacity to receive 300 students, from preschool to Grade 12. There will be 15 classrooms including computers, counseling, recreation, a library, etc. Soccer Club Soccer is a big part of the culture in Brazil and it is easy to get a team of children together in any neighborhood in Brazil... but our work is to reach the child and their family together. To participate in the group, each young athlete needs to be up-to-date in their studies. Meetings outside of the soccer field are held with the goal to talk about the dangers of drugs, violence and the influences of bad company. Special dates are celebrated and the boys’ families are involved so they can know and trust in the work we are doing. With firm training and discipleship these children discover that they can change their lives and be champions. It is not easy to work with prevention and recuperation of people that live below the ‘poverty line’. To obey and stay firm with the work is a challenge. The attraction to work with communities should be a vision of faith, believing and dreaming that these people with many problems can be set free and live out the principles of God.
